Q: What's the difference between a licensed bakery and someone that makes wedding    cakes from their home?
A: Although it is not legal in Louisiana to sell food products that are prepared in a               home kitchen, many of the Louisiana wedding cake bakers are actually not license.    It is important to note this because some reception sites won't allow cakes from an        unlicensed cake baker in their facility due to the fact that unlicensed cake bakers are    unable to acquire liability insurance. Since unlicensed cake bakers are not legal in         Louisiana, they are also not inspected by any government agency and are not held to  any standards of food preparation cleanliness.

We recommend that all brides check with the DHH and make certain that the baker you are considering is licensed and inspected.

Wedding Cake Information - Frequently Asked Questions

 1. Deposit - To secure a date for your wedding cake you must give us a $100.00 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit.

 2. Cake Plateaus & Accessories - There is a deposit & rental fee for cake plateaus, fountains and some accessories. In order to receive a refund for this deposit the item must be returned by Thursday after the event in the same clean condition as when rented.

 3. Final Payment- All Wedding cakes must be completely paid for 15 days prior to the event. If for any reason your cake is not paid in full by this time, we will only accept cash payment. Otherwise, we will accept checks, credit cards and debit cards or cash.

 4. Matching colors- We make every possible effort to match your wedding colors, however, to get as close as possible you must provide us with a color swatch. When working with food grade dyes, perfect color matches are sometimes impossible. Dark colored icings have a tendency to darken further with time. Shades of pink, purple and peach will quickly fade in the bright sun and under bright lights, be cautious when considering these colors.

 5. Deliveries- Our delivery charges are based on difficulty and distance from the bakery. If no one is at the site at the time of delivery or if we cannot gain entry into the building, then we will return the cake to the bakery. The responsibility for the delivery then becomes yours. Please take time to confirm the time of delivery with the reception site so this does not happen. We need cell phone numbers in case this should happen.

 6. Flowers- If you choose to have fresh flowers on your cake, it is the florist’s responsibility for providing the flowers and making sure they are safe to place on an edible cake. If you want us to place the flowers on the cake, there will be a small fee, the flowers must be at the reception site at the time agreed. If they are not, our staff will not be able to wait for their arrival and therefore will not be placed on the cake.

 7. I’ve seen a wedding cake in a magazine or on a different website.  Can you make it for me?
If you can provide us with a photo of the wedding cake I would be happy to recreate it for you. It may be necessary that we would have to make a few modifications, some materials are not available in all areas. We can take a peek and let you know for sure.

 8. Do you deliver outside Shreveport/Bossier?                           Yes! We have gone to Alexandria, Natchitoches, Zwolle, Logansport, Juaquin, Longstreet, Mansfield, Coushatta, Carmel, Carthage, Bethany, Deadwood, Elysian Fields, Marshall, Waskom, Jefferson, Plain Dealing, Bradley, Spring Hill, Minden, Houma, Ruston, just call to see how far we can go. We do charge extra for out of town deliveries.

 9. How much do your cakes cost?

It depends on how detailed the design is...actually you decide. How much you are willing to pay for your dream cake?

10. Do you bake your own cakes?
Yes. All our cakes are baked on our premises. It’s important that your wedding cake tastes as good as it looks.

11. How long have you been designing cakes?

Since 1976 at age 13, for family and friends. Professionally since 1980. No formal training for me, it is a talent for which I give God all the glory.

12. How long before our wedding is the cake prepared?
We bake the cakes fresh using our own recipes and decorate the day of the wedding so that it is fresh and not frozen.

13. Do you freeze your cakes?

No. Sometimes we will refrigerate if we are traveling a long distance or if it is very hot. Certain cakes are better or need to be refrigerated.

14. Do I have to order one of the wedding cakes from your website?
No. All of the wedding cakes are individually designed. You can certainly order a wedding cake from the website, but they are also there for ideas. Please call us to discuss any ideas that you have for your wedding cake.

15. How far in advance do we need to order our wedding cake?
As soon as you realize you want us to design your cake. Please call to see if we are still available. We will do our best to fit you in. All Wedding cakes are custom made and should be ordered as early as possible.

Take into consideration
1. How many people you will be serving
2. The flavor and filling of the cake
3. The size, shape and number of tiers
4. Specific details on the cake such as flowers, colors, patterns, traditional, whimsical, victorian, modern, over the top, simple, stacked, separated etc. We generally use buttercream icing and rolled fondant icing. Cream cheese icing & non-dairy whipped icing are available.
